The Word 'Lafiya'

The word 'lafiya' is from the Hausa language, used by millions of people, primarily in West Africa. It is an all-round, general positive word.

   lafiyà

(f.) health, well-being, safety

Teach Yourself Hausa, Kraft & Kirk-Greene, Hodder and Stoughton, 1973

   lafiya

health, i.e. good health

Dictionary of the Hausa Language, Robinson, Cambridge University Press, 1925

Given all that, and an affectation for the language on the part of the founder of Lafiya Systems, it seemed a good name at the time and still seems a good name today.
